After a three year hiatus from releasing music, singer-songwriter Caity Krone is back with a record that cuts deep for anyone with frenemies. The single, titled "Villain," is a triumphant and melancholy return for the Los Angeles-born performer. The harmony-rich, string-heavy piece follows Caity's EP "Work of Art," which showcased her ability to pen intimate, yet powerful songs that are best conveyed over a piano or with a guitar as they are accompanied by full live band.

Written alongside Amina Khan and Connor Vance, "Villain" similarly displays Caity's prose, but with a helping hand from Jack Kleinick on production, takes on a much more ethereal, dreamy feel than her work prior. Caity speaks on "the way that women can wound each other so deeply," and describes how the song focuses on a childhood friend of hers that "has affected the way [she] views herself as an adult." The compelling imagery in the "Villain" music video – directed by Genevieve Andrews – drives this point home as it seamlessly weaves between Caity and her friends slipping and fighting in the mud and dancing joyfully together in a pastoral setting.

Caity has been making the rounds playing live shows in Los Angeles, including a night at The Hotel Cafe where she opened for Tiny Habits. She concurrently works as an analog music photographer and has collaborated on visual projects with acts like Wet Leg, Lizzy McAlpine, Laufey, Jensen McRae, Tommy Lefroy & more. Her beautiful work has been featured in press like Ones To Watch, The Luna Collective, Atwood Magazine, Earmilk and many more.

The newest single will be released via AWAL, and Evan Candelmo has been helping Caity spread the word and get the record out. With plans to release a full-fledged artist project early 2024, "Villain" serves as a wonderful reintroduction to Caity Krone, and we can't wait to see what else she has in store. The Los Angeles singer has earned placements on playlists like Morning Coffee, Fresh Finds, & more.
