Yellowcard is an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1997, known for their distinctive pop-punk sound that prominently features a violin, setting them apart within the genre. The band's classic lineup includes lead singer Ryan Key, lead guitarist Ryan Mendez, bassist Josh Portman, and violinist Sean Mackin. They gained mainstream success with their 2003 album Ocean Avenue, which was certified platinum and featured hit singles like "Ocean Avenue," "Only One," and "Way Away." Their music blends energetic punk influences with melodic and emotional songwriting, often exploring themes of growing up and personal reflection. Over their career, Yellowcard released ten studio albums, experimenting with alternative and arena rock elements, before initially disbanding in 2017. They reunited in 2022 for live performances and released a new EP, Childhood Eyes, in 2023, continuing to engage their dedicated fan base with their signature blend of punk energy and violin-driven melodies.
