Victoria Monét is an American R&B and pop singer-songwriter born Victoria Monét McCants on May 1, 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Sacramento, California, who began her career in super-producer Rodney Jerkins' girl group Purple Reign before transitioning to songwriting for major artists like Ariana Grande ("Thank U, Next," "7 Rings"), Fifth Harmony, Chloe x Halle, and others. After years behind the scenes, she launched her solo career with EPs like Nightmares & Lullabies (2014-2015) and Jaguar (2020), culminating in her breakthrough debut studio album Jaguar II (2023), featuring the viral hit "On My Mama" that reached the Billboard Hot 100 top 40. At the 2024 Grammy Awards, she won Best New Artist, Best R&B Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, among seven nominations, cementing her rise with sultry vocals, emotional lyricism, and a blend of live instrumentation and modern production.
