Timbaland, born Timothy Zachery Mosley on March 10, 1972, in Norfolk, Virginia, is a groundbreaking American record producer, rapper, singer, and songwriter renowned for revolutionizing hip-hop and R&B production with his distinctive, syncopated beats and inventive sound design. Rising to prominence in the mid-1990s, Timbaland made his mainstream breakthrough by producing Aaliyah’s One in a Million and Ginuwine’s Ginuwine...the Bachelor in 1996, followed by Missy Elliott’s debut Supa Dupa Fly in 1997. His innovative style blurred the lines between hip-hop and R&B, making him a highly sought-after producer for top artists such as Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Madonna, and Rihanna. As a solo artist and as part of the duo Timbaland & Magoo, he released several albums, including Tim's Bio (1998) and the platinum-certified Shock Value series, featuring chart-topping singles like "Give It To Me" and "The Way I Are".
