Tiana Major9 is a British R&B and soul singer-songwriter born Tiana Thomas-Ambersley on November 22, 1995, in the London Borough of Newham, raised in a Jamaican household where she sang gospel in church from age five and studied music at City and Islington College. She gained early recognition as a 2014 MOBO UnSung finalist before releasing singles like "Merry Go," "Levee (Let It Break)," and "Mr. Mysterious," her debut EP Rehearsal @ NINE (2019), and signing with Motown Records that year, highlighted by her breakout hit "Collide" (featuring EarthGang) from the Queen & Slim soundtrack, which won a Black Reel Award and earned a 2021 Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song. Known for her smooth, jazz-influenced vocals (her stage name nods to the major 9th chord), intricate harmonies, and themes of love and vulnerability, she followed with the double EP At Sixes and Sevens (2020), Fool Me Once (2022), collaborations like "Rainfall" with Stormzy and tracks with SiR and Lucky Daye, and continues building acclaim touring with artists like Jazmine Sullivan while embracing her queer identity.
