The War and Treaty is an American husband-and-wife duo consisting of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter, known for their dynamic blend of Southern soul, gospel, country, and rock-and-roll. Formed in 2014, the duo has released several critically acclaimed albums, including their debut Healing Tide (2018) and Hearts Town (2020), which featured collaborations with notable artists like Emmylou Harris. Their major label debut, Lover's Game (2023), followed their signing with UMG Nashville. The War and Treaty have garnered significant recognition, including being the first black duo nominated for the Country Music Association Award for Duo of the Year and receiving two nominations for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.
