The Rapture is an influential American band formed in New York City in 1998, widely recognized as pioneers of the dance-punk and post-punk revival movements of the early 2000s. Founded by Luke Jenner (vocals, guitar) and Vito Roccoforte (drums), and later joined by bassist Mattie Safer and multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Andruzzi, the group developed a signature sound that fused post-punk, acid house, disco, electronica, and indie rock. Their breakout single, “House of Jealous Lovers” (2002), produced by the DFA team, became a defining anthem of the era and led to their acclaimed debut album Echoes (2003). Subsequent albums, including Pieces of the People We Love (2006) and In the Grace of Your Love (2011), further showcased their energetic blend of punk urgency and dancefloor rhythms. Known for their visceral live shows and existential, sometimes spiritual lyricism, The Rapture quietly disbanded in 2014 but have since reunited for select performances, including an expansive tour this year, for the first time in 15 years.
