The Haunted Youth is the dream pop and shoegaze project of Belgian multi-instrumentalist Joachim Liebens, based in Hasselt, Belgium. Rising to prominence in 2021 after winning Studio Brussel's talent contest De Nieuwe Lichting with debut single "Teen Rebel," the band quickly became one of Belgium's biggest indie rock sensations. Their hazy, melancholic sound — drawing comparisons to Slowdive, DIIV, and The Cure — earned international praise from outlets like NME, KEXP, and Consequence of Sound. Single "Gone" was named Single of the Year by Studio Brussel in 2022. Their critically acclaimed debut album Dawn of the Freak arrived in November 2022, followed by relentless touring across Europe, including sold-out shows and appearances at Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Lowlands, and Sziget. With over 233K monthly Spotify listeners, the band's highly anticipated sophomore album Boys Cry Too is set for release in early 2026, preceded by 2025 single "Emo Song."
