New supergroup, The Hard Quartet, signed with Reynold "Rennie" Jaffe, Shira Knishkowy & Mike Sneeringer of Another Management Co., Matador Records & 13 Artists for touring.
The Hard Quartet is an indie rock supergroup formed by Stephen Malkmus, Matt Sweeney, Jim White, and Emmett Kelly. Announced in mid-2024, the band brings together some of the most influential figures in indie rock over the past three decades. Malkmus, known for his work with Pavement, leads the group alongside Sweeney, who has collaborated extensively with Bonnie "Prince" Billy. White, a co-founder of Dirty Three, and Kelly, known for his work with The Cairo Gang and Ty Segall, complete the lineup.
Their debut single, "Earth Hater," showcases their catchy yet unconventional sound, characterized by instinctive pauses and witty lyrics. The band has scheduled live performances in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and London, signaling a promising start for this new collaboration.
