The Dresden Dolls signed with Eric Mayers of Red Light Management.

The Dresden Dolls formed in Boston in 2000 as a piano-drum duo consisting of Amanda Palmer on vocals and piano, and Brian Viglione on drums and various instruments. Emerging from the local club scene, they quickly built a devoted following with their explosive live shows characterized by raw energy, theatrical elements, and audience participation. Self-releasing early material before signing with Roadrunner Records, their 2003 eponymous debut album, produced by Martin Bisi, featured hits like "Coin-Operated Boy" and captured their self-coined "Brechtian punk cabaret" sound—a fusion of cabaret drama, punk attitude, and gothic flair. The band followed with Yes, Virginia... in 2006, toured extensively with acts like Nine Inch Nails, and released live albums and B-sides compilations while Palmer pursued solo success. Despite occasional hiatuses and Palmer's rising profile, the duo reunited for select performances, maintaining cult status in indie and alternative circles. Their influence persists in modern cabaret-punk acts, with Palmer's crowdfunding innovations highlighting their innovative spirit.
