Soft Play is an English punk rock duo formed in Royal Tunbridge Wells in 2012 by Isaac Holman (lead vocals, drums) and Laurie Vincent (backing vocals, guitar, bass). Originally known as Slaves, they changed their name to Soft Play in December 2022 due to the unwanted connotations of their previous moniker. The band has released three studio albums under their former name, with their fourth album and first as Soft Play, titled "Heavy Jelly," set for release on July 19, 2024
Known for their energetic performances and blend of punk and garage rock, Soft Play has gained recognition in the UK music scene, with their earlier albums reaching the top 10 on the UK Albums Chart. Their music often features humorous and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, as exemplified by their comeback single "Punk's Dead," which playfully addressed the controversy surrounding their name change.
