SBTRKT is the electronic music project of Aaron Jerome, an English musician, songwriter, and record producer known for his innovative blend of electronic genres such as dubstep, house, and techno. Debuting in 2009 with notable remixes for artists like M.I.A. and Radiohead, SBTRKT gained critical acclaim with the 2011 self-titled album featuring collaborators like Sampha and Jessie Ware. Aaron Jerome initially used the SBTRKT moniker to maintain anonymity and focus attention on the music rather than his persona, often performing wearing tribal-inspired masks. His work is praised for its boundary-pushing sound and emotional depth, tackling themes from political issues to personal reflection. After a hiatus, he returned with the 2023 album The Rat Road, embracing his South Asian heritage and stepping fully into the spotlight while continuing to evolve his sound.
