Princess Nokia, born Destiny Nicole Frasqueri on June 14, 1992, in New York City, is a multifaceted singer, rapper, and songwriter recognized for her genre-defying music and outspoken individuality. Of Puerto Rican and Afro-Indigenous descent, she first gained attention in New York’s underground scene with tracks released under the name Wavy Spice before adopting her Princess Nokia moniker, which she describes as an alter ego. Her discography spans rap, hip-hop, emo, rock, and soul, with notable releases including her debut album Metallic Butterfly (2014), the acclaimed 1992 Deluxe (2017), and the dual albums Everything Sucks and Everything Is Beautiful (2020). Beyond music, Princess Nokia is known for her activism, modeling, and acting, and she uses her platform to champion feminism, LGBTQ+ rights, and cultural diversity, making her a prominent voice for Black, Latina, and queer communities.
