Popcaan, born Andrae Hugh Sutherland on July 19, 1988, in St. Thomas, Jamaica, is a globally acclaimed dancehall artist known for his distinctive voice, energetic performances, and genre-blending sound. Rising from humble beginnings in Portmore, he was mentored by dancehall legend Vybz Kartel, joining Kartel’s Portmore Empire (Gaza Music Empire) in 2007 and quickly making waves with hits like “Clarks,” which became an international sensation and earned multiple awards. Popcaan’s debut album, Where We Come From (2014), reached number two on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart, and he has since released several successful projects, including Forever and Great Is He. Renowned for his versatility, Popcaan has collaborated with a wide range of artists such as Drake, Jamie xx, Gorillaz, and Burna Boy, further cementing his influence on both the dancehall and global music scenes. His music, marked by infectious hooks and heartfelt lyrics, has earned him numerous accolades, including MOBO Awards, and his international tours have brought his sound to audiences across the Caribbean, Europe, and beyond
