Pierce the Veil is an American rock band formed in 2006 in San Diego, California, by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after the breakup of their previous band, Before Today. Known for their dynamic blend of post-hardcore, emo, pop-punk, and experimental rock, the band was later joined by Jaime Preciado (bass) and Tony Perry (lead guitar) in 2007. Their debut album, A Flair for the Dramatic (2007), marked the beginning of their ascent in the alternative music scene, followed by Selfish Machines (2010), which topped the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Their third album, Collide with the Sky (2012), released under Fearless Records, featured hits like "King for a Day" and debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200. After releasing Misadventures in 2016 and taking a hiatus, they returned with The Jaws of Life in 2023. Renowned for their emotionally charged lyrics and Latin influences, Pierce the Veil has earned critical acclaim and a devoted global fanbase through their innovative sound and energetic live performances.
