Born to a Puerto Rican father and Dominican mother, he began his music career at age 11, recording his first album and later forming the duo Los Cangris with Daddy Yankee in the late 1990s. After a period of personal challenges, including substance abuse and career decline, Nicky Jam experienced a remarkable comeback by relocating to Medellín, Colombia, and reinventing his musical style. His 2017 album "Fénix" marked his triumphant return, featuring hit singles like "El Perdón" and "Hasta el Amanecer," which earned him a Latin Grammy and global recognition. Beyond music, Nicky Jam has ventured into acting, appearing in films like "XXX: Return of Xander Cage" and starring in his Netflix biographical series "Nicky Jam: El Ganador". With collaborations spanning artists like Enrique Iglesias, J Balvin, and Ozuna, he has become a pivotal figure in reggaeton, known for his resilience, authentic storytelling, and ability to overcome personal obstacles.
