Maia, known professionally as mxmtoon, is an American singer-songwriter and YouTuber born on July 9, 2000, in Oakland, California. She is celebrated for her emotionally transparent, confessional lyrics and her distinctive use of the ukulele. Maia began self-releasing music secretly in 2017, recording in her parents' guest bedroom, and quickly gained a following with her lo-fi, intimate style. Her debut EP, "Plum Blossom" (2018), and subsequent albums such as "The Masquerade" (2019) and "Rising" (2022), showcase her candid songwriting and melodic sensibility. Beyond music, mxmtoon streams on Twitch, hosts a podcast, has released graphic novels, and provided the singing voice for a video game protagonist. She has collaborated with artists like Carly Rae Jepsen and Cavetown, and as of 2025, she is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
