Mustafa is a Canadian poet, singer-songwriter, and filmmaker from Toronto, Ontario. Born Mustafa Ahmed on April 28, 1996, he has gained recognition for his poignant and introspective music that often reflects on themes of love, loss, community, and the complexities of inner-city life. Mustafa's work is deeply influenced by his experiences growing up in Regent Park, one of Toronto's most culturally diverse and historically marginalized neighborhoods.
Mustafa released his debut album, "When Smoke Rises," in May 2021. The album has been critically acclaimed for its emotional depth and the way it navigates grief and healing, particularly through the lens of losing friends to gun violence—a recurring theme in Mustafa's work. Songs like "Stay Alive" and "Air Forces" have been highlighted for their heartfelt lyrics and minimalist production, showcasing Mustafa's ability to convey profound messages through his music.
