MOD SUN, whose real name is Derek Ryan Smith, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and drummer from Bloomington, Minnesota. He started his music career as a drummer for post-hardcore groups before transitioning to a solo career as MOD SUN. His name stands for "Movement on Dreams Stand Under None." MOD SUN released his debut EP, "The Hippy Hop EP," in 2010, followed by projects like "In Mod We Trust" in 2011 and "Happy as Fu*k" in 2012.
His 2015 debut album, "Look Up," featured collaborations with artists like Travis Barker and G-Eazy and achieved success on the Billboard charts. Throughout his career, MOD SUN has continued to evolve his sound and style, collaborating with artists like Avril Lavigne and Machine Gun Kelly.
