Margo Price is an American country singer-songwriter born on April 15, 1983, in Aledo, Illinois, raised on a family farm amid economic hardship that shaped her raw, truth-telling lyrics. After moving to Nashville in 2003, dropping out of college, and forming the band Buffalo Clover with her husband Jeremy Ivey, she faced personal tragedies like the loss of her firstborn son and industry rejection before her solo breakthrough with the 2016 debut album Midwest Farmer's Daughter on Jack White's Third Man Records, recorded in three days at Sun Studio. The album's top-10 Billboard debut without a single, Saturday Night Live performance, Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, and subsequent releases like All American Made (2018), Strays (2021), and Hard Headed Woman, plus tours with Willie Nelson and Chris Stapleton, have cemented her as a trailblazing voice in insurgent country, advocating for independence and social issues.
