Liam Payne, born on August 29, 1993, in Wolverhampton, England, is an English singer and songwriter who first gained fame as a member of the globally successful boy band One Direction. He initially auditioned for The X Factor in 2008 and returned in 2010, where he was grouped with four other contestants to form One Direction. The band became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time before going on hiatus in 2016.
Payne launched his solo career with the release of his debut single "Strip That Down" in 2017, which achieved significant commercial success. His debut album, LP1, was released in December 2019. Known for his pop and R&B influences, Payne has collaborated with artists like J Balvin and Quavo. Beyond music, he has ventured into fashion, serving as a global brand ambassador for Hugo Boss, and has explored digital art with his NFT collection "Lonely Bug." Despite facing personal and professional challenges, including a recent kidney infection that postponed his South American tour, Payne continues to engage with his fans and release new music, such as his 2024 single "Teardrops" co-written with JC Chasez from NSYNC
