KT Tunstall is a Scottish singer-songwriter and musician born Kate Victoria Tunstall on June 23, 1975, in Edinburgh, who rose to fame with her breakthrough 2004 debut album Eye to the Telescope. Her iconic solo performance of "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" on Later... with Jools Holland—using just a guitar, tambourine, and loop pedal after a last-minute cancellation—catapulted her career, earning Grammy and Mercury Prize nominations, a BRIT Award for Best British Female Artist in 2006, and an Ivor Novello for "Suddenly I See." Known for her versatile folk-pop-rock style and one-woman-band live shows, she followed with albums like Drastic Fantastic (2007), the trilogy Kin (2016), Wax (2018), and Nut (2022), plus a 2023 collaboration Face to Face with Suzi Quatro, selling over seven million records by 2025.
