John Henry Ryan II, also known as John the Blind and JRY, is an American singer-songwriter and record producer from Rochester, New York. Born on August 19, 1987, Ryan gained prominence in the music industry for co-writing and co-producing One Direction's last four albums and many of their singles. He has written songs for numerous acclaimed artists, with his compositions and productions selling over 30 million units worldwide. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2010, Ryan moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. He achieved his first major success with the One Direction hit "Story of My Life" and has since collaborated with artists like Maroon 5, Harry Styles, and John Legend. In addition to his work for other artists, Ryan has launched his solo project under the moniker John the Blind, releasing singles and EPs that showcase his soulful electronic pop style. His diverse musical influences and ability to blend various genres have established him as a versatile and in-demand figure in contemporary pop music. He most recently has writing credits on Sabrina Carpenter's new LP "Short n' Sweet."
