James Blake Litherland, born on September 26, 1988, in Enfield, London, is an acclaimed English singer, songwriter, and record producer known for his innovative blend of electronic music, R&B, and pop. He first gained recognition with the release of his EPs The Bells Sketch, CMYK, and Klavierwerke in 2010, which led to his critically acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2011. Blake's unique sound, characterized by glitchy downtempo beats, distorted piano ballads, and soulful vocals, has earned him collaborations with major artists like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and Bon Iver.
His subsequent albums, including Overgrown (2013), The Colour in Anything (2016), and Assume Form (2019), have solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the post-dubstep and experimental electronic music scenes. Blake's work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Mercury Prize and Grammy nominations, and he continues to push the boundaries of contemporary music with his emotive and atmospheric compositions.
