J Hus signs with EMPIRE

J Hus, born Momodou Lamin Jallow in Stratford, London, is a British singer and rapper widely recognized for pioneering the Afroswing genre, which fuses elements of Afrobeat, dancehall, and UK rap. Rising to prominence in 2015 with his breakout track "Dem Boy Paigon," he achieved mainstream success with the platinum-certified single "Did You See," which peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart. His critically acclaimed debut album, Common Sense (2017), was named the best UK album of the year by Complex and reached number six on the UK Albums Chart. J Hus continued his ascent with his second album, Big Conspiracy (2020), which debuted at number one in the UK and featured collaborations with artists like Koffee and Burna Boy. In 2023, his single "Who Told You" featuring Drake became his highest-charting release, leading into his third album, Beautiful and Brutal Yard, which also topped the UK Albums Chart.
