Incubus is an American alternative rock band formed in 1991 in Calabasas, California, by vocalist Brandon Boyd, guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer José Pasillas while they were in high school. The band later expanded to include bassist Alex "Dirk Lance" Katunich and DJ Gavin "DJ Lyfe" Koppel, who were eventually replaced by Ben Kenney and DJ Chris Kilmore, respectively, with Nicole Row joining on bass in 2024. Incubus gained mainstream success with their 1999 album Make Yourself, featuring hits like "Drive," and continued their success with albums such as Morning View (2001) and Light Grenades (2006). Their music blends alternative rock with elements of funk, metal, and electronic, evolving from a funk metal sound to a more melodic, experimental style. Incubus is known for their energetic live performances and has sold millions of albums worldwide while continuing to release new music and tour.
