Ian O'Neill Smith, known mononymously as ian (stylized in lowercase), is an up-and-coming American rapper and producer from St. Louis, Missouri, based in Dallas, Texas. He started releasing music on SoundCloud as early as 2018 under the alias "suburbancerberus" and produced for other artists like Izaya Tiji and Lil Xelly from 2019 to 2022.
Ian gained widespread attention in early 2024 with his viral hit "Figure It Out," which featured a cameo from Marshawn Lynch in the music video and led to him signing a record deal with Bu Vision, a subsidiary of Columbia Records. On May 17, 2024, he released his debut mixtape Valedictorian, which peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard 200 chart and included the charting single "Never Stop.
