Grande Mahogany is the stage name of Jesse Essel, a Finnish-Ghanaian guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and producer known for his eclectic fusion of funk, rock, R&B, and psychedelic sounds. Born and raised in Finland before moving to Manchester, UK at age 11, he developed his distinctive style influenced by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone, and Funkadelic. His debut album As Grande As (2024) showcases a kaleidoscopic blend of groovy, fuzz-laden guitar riffs and soulful vocals, earning critical acclaim for its inventive approach to 1970s-inspired psychedelic funk and modern genre crossovers. Now based in Helsinki with his live band, Grande Mahogany is recognized for pushing musical boundaries and creating immersive, dynamic performances that resonate with both classic rock and contemporary audiences.
