Glass Beams is an innovative music project based in Melbourne, Australia, founded by Indian-Australian multi-instrumentalist Rajan Silva in 2020. The band emerged from Silva's desire to blend his Indian heritage with contemporary Western musical styles, drawing inspiration from his father's diverse record collection that included Bollywood classics and blues legends.
Their debut EP, Mirage, released in 2021, showcased a unique fusion of psychedelic rock, synth, and funk, quickly gaining traction and acclaim for its intricate soundscapes and hypnotic melodies. In March 2024, Glass Beams released their highly anticipated follow-up EP, Mahal, which further explores their genre-defying sound and debuted on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. Known for their striking visual aesthetic, the band performs wearing gold bejeweled glass masks, creating an enigmatic presence that complements their captivating music.
