Glaive, born Ash Blue Gutierrez on January 20, 2005, is an American singer-songwriter from North Carolina who emerged as a notable figure in the hyperpop genre during the COVID-19 pandemic. He began his musical journey by posting tracks on SoundCloud, gaining significant attention with his debut EP Cypress Grove in 2020, which featured the viral hit "Astrid."
Glaive's sound is characterized by a fusion of punk energy and emotive pop, often reflecting the chaotic experience of growing up in a digital age. His music has garnered critical acclaim, leading to collaborations with other artists in the hyperpop scene and a record deal with Interscope Records. In 2023, he released his debut album I Care So Much That I Don't Care at All, followed by his second album May It Never Falter in 2024, showcasing his evolution as an artist while also hinting at a desire to move beyond the hyperpop label.
