Foster The People is an American indie pop band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2009 by Mark Foster. Initially a solo project, Foster was joined by Mark Pontius and Cubbie Fink to form the core of the band. Their breakthrough came with the viral hit "Pumped Up Kicks" in 2010, which led to a record deal with Startime International. Their debut album, Torches, released in 2011, earned three Grammy nominations and featured hits like "Helena Beat" and "Houdini." Subsequent albums include Supermodel (2014), Sacred Hearts Club (2017), and Paradise State of Mind (2024). The band's lineup has evolved over time, with Isom Innis becoming a key member in 2017 and Sean Cimino contributing until 2024. Foster the People is known for their catchy, eclectic sound and energetic live performances, blending indie rock with pop elements
