daine is a Filipino-Australian artist from Melbourne, Australia, known for her genre-blending fusion of emo, hyperpop, and trap influences. Emerging from a DIY ethos, they began writing music in their bedroom, drawing inspiration from midwestern emo bands like Tigers Jaw and Sunny Day Real Estate, while incorporating gritty hip-hop production and ethereal vocals. Their sound—described as "future emo"—combines nostalgic guitar-driven melodies with glitchy electronic elements, creating tracks like "boys wanna txt" (produced by hyperpop pioneer Dylan Brady) and the Oli Sykes collaboration "SALT." Daine gained traction through self-released SoundCloud demos before signing with a major label, later launching the online festival Nocturne to uplift queer and neurodivergent artists in the DIY electronic scene. Their 2022 Quantum Jumping EP and 2023 shapeless EP showcase a dynamic range, from the trap-infused "boythots" to the melancholic hyperpop of "Angel Numbers" (co-produced by PC Music’s Danny L Harle). At 21, daine has collaborated with artists like Charli XCX and Kreayshawn, performed at global festivals, and amassed a devoted following for their raw, introspective lyrics exploring isolation and self-discovery. Their 2024 single "SHADES ON" further cements their role as a defiant voice for a generation navigating digital-age disillusionment
