Conrad Ignatius Mario Maximilian Sewell (born March 31, 1988) is an Australian singer and songwriter from Brisbane, best known for his vocals on Kygo's "Firestone" and his number-one single "Start Again." At the ARIA Music Awards of 2015, he won Song of the Year for "Start Again." Sewell comes from a musical family; his grandparents toured with the Bee Gees, and his sister Grace is also a singer.
Growing up in Brisbane, Sewell began pursuing music early, sending demos since he was eight years old. In 2004, he auditioned for Australian Idol but didn't initially pass, having to re-audition before making it into the Top 100. In 2006, he moved to the United Kingdom. Sewell's debut studio album, Life, was released in May 2019, followed by Precious in March 2023. Precious marks a career risk for Sewell, a step outside the mainstream into soul music. After a period of heavy drinking and questioning his musical direction, Sewell took a year off from alcohol and decided to make a blue-eyed soul record. He aimed to rebrand his career and do what he wanted, detaching from past successes.
