Clairo, born Claire Elizabeth Cottrill on August 18, 1998, in Atlanta, Georgia, is an American indie pop singer-songwriter who rose to fame as a teenager with her viral 2017 bedroom pop single "Pretty Girl." Beginning her music career by uploading covers and original songs to YouTube and SoundCloud at age 13, she gained critical acclaim with her 2019 debut album Immunity, which showcased dreamy melodies and introspective lyrics. Clairo’s sophomore album, Sling (2021), furthered her reputation with its rich arrangements and emotional vulnerability, while her 2024 album Charm received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album. Known for blending intimate vocals with thoughtful songwriting, she has become a prominent voice in contemporary indie music.
