Cavetown, the stage name of Robin Daniel Skinner, is an English singer-songwriter, record producer, and YouTuber known for his intimate, gentle indie pop and bedroom pop music that often features mellow ukulele ballads. Born on December 15, 1998, in Oxford and raised in Cambridge, Skinner's musical talent was nurtured early by his father, a musicologist who taught him guitar, and his mother, a professional Baroque flautist. He started his YouTube channel in 2012 and quickly gained a large following through original songs and covers. His work blends indie rock, indie folk, and lo-fi elements, often touching on personal and emotional themes, including mental health. Cavetown has released multiple albums, including Lemon Boy and Worm Food, and is recognized for his candid lyricism and DIY ethos. He is also noted as an outspoken trans advocate and has a devoted global fanbase.
