Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer and songwriter who rose to international fame with her 2012 hit single "Call Me Maybe," which became one of the best-selling singles of that year, topping charts in over 19 countries and selling more than 18 million copies. She began her career after placing third on the fifth season of Canadian Idol in 2007, and initially released a folk-influenced debut album, Tug of War. Jepsen's music evolved into a catchy, dance-pop style with her second album, Kiss, and she continued to develop her sound with critically acclaimed albums like Emotion, known for its 1980s synth-pop and dance influences. Besides her recording career, she has also performed on Broadway and in television specials, showcasing her versatility as an artist.
