Adegbenga Otomayomi Adejumo, professionally known as Benga, is a British musician and producer from Croydon, widely recognized as a pioneer of dubstep music. Of Yoruba Nigerian descent, Benga began making music as a teenager, initially using a PlayStation and later FruityLoops, and quickly became influential in the early 2000s London dubstep scene alongside artists like Skream. He released his first record at age 15 and went on to produce acclaimed albums such as Newstep (2006) and Diary of an Afro Warrior (2008), as well as the hit single "Night" with Coki. Benga was also a founding member of the dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man and contributed to mainstream hits like Katy B's "Katy on a Mission." After a period of retirement due to mental health challenges, he returned to music with new projects, including his 2018 track "Psychosis," reflecting his personal experiences and ongoing influence in electronic music.
