Bell Biv DeVoe, also known as BBD, is an iconic American music group that originated from Boston, Massachusetts. The group was formed by Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe, who were all previous members of the popular R&B group New Edition. Bell Biv DeVoe is renowned for their debut album "Poison," released in 1990, which became a defining work in the new jack swing genre—a fusion of hip-hop, funk, soul, and pop music.
The group's music, particularly the album "Poison," was instrumental in bringing the new jack swing sound to a wider audience, appealing to fans who favored a harder-edged blend of R&B and hip-hop. Although they have only released a handful of albums, Bell Biv DeVoe continues to perform together and participate in New Edition reunions.
