Alice Phoebe Lou, born Alice Matthew on July 19, 1993, in Kommetjie, South Africa, is a Berlin-based singer-songwriter celebrated for her ethereal voice and genre-blending artistry. Starting her career as a street performer in Berlin, she developed a raw, bluesy folk sound infused with elements of indie pop and electronic soul. Known for her fiercely independent approach, she has self-funded and released five studio albums, including Orbit (2016), Paper Castles (2019), and Shelter (2023). Her music often explores themes of love, self-discovery, and resilience, with deeply personal lyrics that resonate universally. In 2017, her song "She" was shortlisted for an Oscar for Best Original Song. Beyond her solo work, Alice is also part of the duo Strongboi. Her captivating live performances and authentic storytelling have earned her a devoted global following, cementing her as a key figure in contemporary indie music.
