Emei, born Emily Li on October 3, 1999, is a Chinese-American alt-pop singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. She first gained significant attention in the music industry after her participation in "Chinese Idol," where she placed third at the age of 15. Emei's music career in the United States began to take off during her senior year of college with the viral success of her song "Late to the Party," which has accumulated over six million streams on Spotify.
In 2023, Emei released the EP "Scatterbrain," which has been well-received for its fresh and original approach to pop music. The EP includes tracks like "711" and "Scatterbrain," which showcase her ability to blend dynamic production with compelling hooks. Emei's music has been compared to artists like Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo for its emotional depth and pop sensibility.
Emei is also known for her engaging live performances. She is scheduled to perform in various locations across five countries in 2024-2025, including a headline show at The Garage in London on April 28, 2024.
